Earlier this month, employees began to change the signage of buildings at the health care provider’s flagship hospital property in Middletown and at its other holdings in Orange and Sullivan counties as part of the Greater Hudson Valley Health System’s rebranding to Garnet Health.

The health system, parent of Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown and Catskill Regional Medical Center in Callicoon and other health care operations in the region, officially changed its name to Garnet Health on June 18.

Scott Batulis, president & CEO of the re-branded Garnet Health, explained the name change by stating, “We are an organization that has led and embraced change over time and I hope you will join me in supporting another important milestone, the changing of our health system’s name to Garnet Health. The quality care we provide to our patients always comes first and Garnet Health will quickly become a name associated with excellence.”

He added, “Garnet, the New York State gemstone, is a symbol of brilliance, quality, clarity and healing.”

The following entities will now be known by:

• Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, and Grover M. Hermann Hospital in Callicoon will be renamed Garnet Health Medical Center – Catskills;

• Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown will be renamed Garnet Health Medical Center;

• Catskill Regional Medical Group and Orange Regional Medical Group will be renamed Garnet Health Doctors;

• Greater Hudson Valley Urgent Care in Middletown and Monticello will be renamed Garnet Health Urgent Care;

• Catskill Regional Medical Center Foundation will be renamed Garnet Health Foundation – Catskills and

• Orange Regional Medical Center Foundation will be renamed Garnet Health Foundation.

Garnet Health officials stressed that while the names of the system’s entities have changed, the locations, phone numbers and services will remain the same. Garnet Health will still be the same independently-run, not-for-profit healthcare organization with the same management and voluntary board of directors comprised of community members, they said.

Garnet Health explained that it decided to rebrand the organization “to more easily and memorably communicate that we are a united group committed to delivering exceptional health.”

Garnet Health is a New York State, not-for-profit corporation headquartered in Middletown that provides healthcare to approximately 450,000 residents in Orange, Sullivan and Ulster counties.
