Stay tuned! For the next 5 Thursdays, we will be posting a highlight of the rise of unique industries. Up first, we have:
On December 20, 2018 farmers and entrepreneurs struck gold when Congress passed the The Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018, or the “Farm Bill.” The law uprooted hemp from the controlled substances list, approving it for industrial growth in all 50 states.
In 2019 alone, we have seen two new hemp projects come to fruition, Hemp Farms of New York breathed new life into the old 30,000 SF of greenhouses at the Continental Organics site in the Town of New Windsor creating 40 new jobs.
The Orange County IDA also joined in on the hemp explosion and created a new CBD Accelerator at the Warwick Valley Office & Technology Corporate Park where they are building a brand new 55,000 SF complex including a lab, greenhouses and flex space.
